In this document I will walk you through the steps of installing a module in a Joomla 1.5 environment. Keep in mind these steps will also work for installing a Component or a Plugin / Bot.
Step 1: Login to the administration control panel of your website
(ie: http://www.yourwebsite.com/administrator )
Step 2: In the Menu Bar at the top of your screen, hover your mouse over the "Extensions" link until the menu comes up. Once the menu pops up click on the "Install/Uninstall" option.
Step 3: You should now be looking at the Extension Installation screen. In this screen you will first need to click on the "Browse" button as illustrated below.
Step 4: A window will pop up asking for the location of the module you would like to install. You should have already downloaded the module onto your computer in a place where you can find it. Select the module file that you downloaded and hit the "Enter" or "Return" key.
Step 5: The file name of the module you are installing should show up to the left of the "Browse" button. If it did not please repeat step 4. If the filename is indeed there then you need to click on the "Upload File & Install" button.
Step 6: It may take a minute or two to upload the file depending on the size of the module you are installing. The browser may look frozen but be sure to not close it or navigate away from this page. Do not hit the Stop or Reload/Refresh button. Once the file is done uploading and installing a blue bar will appear that looks like the one shown here:
That is it! Your new module is installed and ready to use! For information on using your new module refer to the documentation that came with it.
